As with the other ‘Pixie’ buddlejas the origin of Buddleja davidii ‘Pixie Red’ is a mystery. As the plants can grow in excess of 2 m in height it has been speculated that the name ‘Pixie’ alludes to the shape of the inflorescence not the plant’s size.
