Brickendon Estate and Woolmers Estate near Longford Tasmania Australia are adjacent farming properties that date back to 1817 and a time in world history when convicts were used to provide labour to settlers in exchange for food and clothing.Both these farming properties have been held and continuously farmed by 6 generations of a single family (the Archer family) stretching back from the early 19th century (the convict era) through to the present.The estates were inscribed onto the Australian National Heritage List in November 2007 as being of outstanding national significance because of their close association with the convict consignment system and in July 2010 included on the World Heritage list as Australian Convict Sites and amongst the world’s ..
