Brenda Fisher (born 1927 Grimsby) is an English long-distance swimmer.Fisher was born and raised in Grimsby the daughter of a Grimsby trawler skipper learned to swim at the age of 9 and initially became a speed swimmer.In 1951 she was the 23rd swimmer of the English Channel from France to England completing in the then record women’s time of 12 hours 42 minutes 73 minutes faster than the previous women’s record set by Jenny James and winning a £1000 Daily Mail first prize.
