Betaenone C like other betaenones (A and B) is a secondary metabolite isolated from the fungus Pleospora betae a plant pathogen. Of the seven phytotoxins isolated in fungal leaf spots from sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) it showed 89% growth inhibition.
