The Women’s 5000 metres competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London United Kingdom. The event was held at the Olympic Stadium on 8–11 August.From the start of the final Joanne Pavey took the lead with Dibaba moving into the fourth position in the procession ready to cover any moves. After about four laps Elena Romagnolo took up the front position for a few laps to be replaced again with Pavey.
