The Men’s 800 metres competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London United Kingdom was held at the Olympic Stadium on 6–9 August.Reigning world champion David Rudisha won the race in 1:40.91 becoming the first person to break 1:41 and improving on his own world record (the first world record in an Olympic men’s 800m final since 1976). The reigning world junior champion Nigel Amos finished second in 1:41.73 establishing a new world junior record and Botswanan national record.
