The Men’s Hammer Throw event at the 2004 Summer Olympics as part of the athletics program was held at the Athens Olympic Stadium on August 20 and August 22. The eight highest-ranked competitors after three rounds qualified for the final three throws to decide the medals. The qualification mark was set at 78.00 metres.Silver medal winner Ivan Tsikhan had his samples from 2004 retested in May 2012. A banned substance was found and he withdrew from the 2012 Summer Olympics as a result.
