The unicameral Assembly of the Union of the Comoros is the country’s legislative body.The current Assembly of the Union formed following elections held on 18 and 25 April 2004 has a total of 33 members. 18 member are directly elected in single member constituencies using the two-round (or run-off) system. The local assemblies on each of the three islands indirectly elect the remaining 15 members.
