The 2008 presidential election was held in Armenia on February 19. Prime Minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan won the election in the first round according to official results but this is disputed by former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan who officially placed second.The candidacy of Sargsyan was backed by incumbent President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan (who is ineligible for a third consecutive term).
