The 2006 Arkansas gubernatorial election was won by Mike Beebe of the Democratic Party. The election occurred on Tuesday November 7 2006. Governor Mike Huckabee (R) was term limited and thus ineligible for re-election.This was also the first time since 1978 (when Bill Clinton was elected to his first term) that no Arkansas incumbent governor was running for re-election[citation needed].
