The Apple Remote is a remote control made for use with Apple Inc. products with infrared capabilities released in or after October 2005. The device was announced by Steve Jobs on October 12 2005. The remote was originally designed to interact with the Front Row media program on the iSight iMac G5 and is compatible with some later desktop and portable Macintosh computers. Apple TV ships with and uses the Apple Remote as its primary control mechanism.
