Antonio María Rouco Varela (born 24 August 1936) is a Spanish prelate of the Roman Catholic Church and a prominent member of its conservative wing. He currently serves as Archbishop of Madrid and he was elevated to the cardinalate in 1998. Although he became 75 the customary retirement age for a bishop in 2011 he continues to serve as of January 2014.
