Alpha-mannosidosis is a lysosomal storage disorder caused by deficient activity of the enzyme alpha-D-mannosidase. In humans it is known to be caused by an autosomal recessive genetic mutation. In livestock it is caused by chronic poisoning with swainsonine from locoweed.
