Alpengeist is a full-circuit inverted roller coaster built by Bolliger & Mabillard in 1997 at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Alpengeist has an Alpine mountain region theme. The name Alpengeist is German for Ghost of the Alps or Alps Spirit and the ride is themed to a runaway ski lift. Since it opened in 1997 Alpengeist has been the worlds tallest complete circuit inverted coaster. In 2014 Banshee at Kings Island took the record for the fastest inverted coaster in the world at 68mph.
