An unrelated new league named the All-American Basketball Alliance was announced in 2010.The All-American Basketball Alliance was formed in 1977 with the intention of competing with the established Continental Basketball Association as the premier basketball minor league in the United States. Eight teams competed in the only season of the AABA which consisted of forty games and ran from 6 January 1978 until 2 February 1978.
