Alexander Nevsky (Russian: Алекса́ндр Яросла́вич Не́вский Aleksandr Yaroslavich Nevskiy; pronounced [ɐlʲɪˈksandr jɪrɐˈslavʲɪtɕ ˈnʲefskʲɪj] ; 30 May 1220 – 14 November 1263 proclaimed Saint of the Russian Orthodox Church by Metropolite Macarius in 1547) was the Prince of Novgorod Grand Prince of Kiev and Grand Prince of Vladimir during some of the most trying times in the city’s history.
