Alex Noerdin (born September 9 1950) has been the Governor of South Sumatra since 7 November 2008. Previously he served as regent in Banyuasin for 2 consecutive periods (2001–2006 and 2007–2012). On June 14 2008 in the second period of his tenure he resigned associated with his candidacy as governor of Sumatra South Sumatra South Sumatra in the local elections from 2008 to 2013 period. He was born in Palembang South Sumatra.
