Alan Williams SM (b 1951) is an English Roman Catholic priest with the Society of Mary and director of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. On 14 April 2014 Pope Francis announced his appointment as 7th Bishop of Brentwood. Thus he is currently Bishop-Elect until his episcopal ordination on 1 July 2014.Born in Lancashire he trained for the priesthood at Allen Hall before which he obtained a degree in Natural Science from Durham University and a PhD in Psychology from London University.
