The Ahmar Mountains is an average elevation of 2965 metres (9728 ft) above sea level and much of its territory is mountains and the ecology of this landform is semi-desert. The mountain is located approximately 11 km (7 mi) South of Dire Dawa (Ethiopia) 12 km (7 mi) from Jijiga by road.
