Afro-Honduran are Hondurans of African descent. They descended from African slaves imported by the Spanish Garifunas and Creole peoples (these latter are original from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands arrived in Honduras between the nineteenth and early twentieth century to work on the export of bananas and the construction). They are estimated to be a population of 150000 or 2% of the country.
