Acromegaly (/ˌækrɵˈmɛɡəli/; from Ancient Greek άκρος akros extreme or extremities and μεγάλος megalos large) is a syndrome that results when the anterior pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (GH) after epiphyseal plate closure at puberty.
