Acrodermatitis enteropathica is an autosomal recessive metabolic disorder affecting the uptake of zinc characterized by periorificial (around the natural orifices) and acral (in the limbs) dermatitis alopecia (loss of hair) and diarrhea. Similar features may be present in acquired zinc deficiency.
