9915 Potanin is a C-type main belt asteroid. It orbits the Sun once every 5.05 years.Discovered on September 8 1977 by Nikolai Chernykh it was given the provisional designation 1977 RD2. It was later renamed Potanin after Grigorij Potanin a Russian explorer of Siberia.
