In enzymology a 78-dihydroxykynurenate 88a-dioxygenase (EC 1.13.11.10) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction78-dihydroxykynurenate + O2 5-(3-carboxy-3-oxopropenyl)-46-dihydroxypyridine-2-carboxylateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 78-dihydroxykynurenate and O2 whereas its product is 5-(3-carboxy-3-oxopropenyl)-46-dihydroxypyridine-2-carboxylate.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on single donors with O2 as oxidant and incorporation of two atoms of oxygen into the substrate (oxygenases).
