6371 Heinlein (1985 GS) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on April 15 1985 by Edward L.G. Bowell at Anderson Mesa Station. The asteroid is named for Dieter Heinlein the head of the Meteorites section of the German amateur astronomer society Die Vereinigung der Sternfreunde e.V. (Association of Friends of the Stars).
