In enzymology a 6-pyruvoyltetrahydropterin 2′-reductase (EC 1.1.1.220) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction6-lactoyl-5678-tetrahydropterin + NADP+ 6-pyruvoyltetrahydropterin + NADPH + H+Thus the two substrates of this enzyme are 6-lactoyl-5678-tetrahydropterin and NADP+ whereas its 3 products are 6-pyruvoyltetrahydropterin NADPH and H+.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor.
