4589 McDowell (1933 OB) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on July 24 1933 by Karl Reinmuth at Heidelberg. It is named after Jonathan McDowell an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and the editor of Jonathan’s Space Report.
