In enzymology a 4-hydroxyglutamate transaminase (EC 2.6.1.23) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction4-hydroxy-L-glutamate + 2-oxoglutarate 4-hydroxy-2-oxoglutarate + L-glutamateThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 4-hydroxy-L-glutamate and 2-oxoglutarate whereas its two products are 4-hydroxy-2-oxoglutarate and L-glutamate.This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases specifically the transaminases which transfer nitrogenous groups.
