In enzymology a 4-aminobenzoate 1-monooxygenase (EC 1.14.13.27) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction4-aminobenzoate + NAD(P)H + 2 H+ + O2 4-hydroxyaniline + NAD(P)+ + H2O + CO2The 5 substrates of this enzyme are 4-aminobenzoate NADH NADPH H+ and O2 whereas its 5 products are 4-hydroxyaniline NAD+ NADP+ H2O and CO2.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on paired donors with O2 as oxidant and incorporation or reduction of oxygen.
