3C-E is a psychedelic hallucinogenic drug of the phenethylamine class of compounds. It is a substituted amphetamine. 3C-E was probably first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin. In his book PiHKAL (Phenethylamines i Have Known And Loved) Shulgin lists the dosage range as 30 to 60 mg consumed orally. The duration of action was stated to be 8–12 hours. 3C-E can be considered illegal in the U.S.
