3604 Berkhuijsen (5550 P-L) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on October 17 1960 by Cornelis Johannes van Houten Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory. It is named for Dutch astronomer Elly M. Berkhuijzen a specialist in galactic structure and former student of Jacobus Kapteyn. The asteroid is a member of the Jacobus Collective.
