In enzymology a 3-dehydro-L-gulonate 2-dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.130) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction3-dehydro-L-gulonate + NAD(P)+ (4R5S)-456-trihydroxy-23-dioxohexanoate + NAD(P)H + H+The 3 substrates of this enzyme are 3-dehydro-L-gulonate NAD+ and NADP+ whereas its 4 products are (4R5S)-456-trihydroxy-23-dioxohexanoate NADH NADPH and H+.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on the CH-OH group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor.
