2alpha-DMT or 2α-dimethyltryptamine is a tryptamine and a lesser-known psychedelic drug. It is the 2a-dimethyl analog of DMT. 2α-DMT was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin. In his book TiHKAL (Tryptamines I Have Known and Loved) Shulgin lists the dosage as 300-500 mg and the duration as 7-10 hours. 2α-DMT causes mydriasis and paresthesia. It also produces a calm drunk-like feeling. Very little data exists about the pharmacological properties metabolism and toxicity of 2α-DMT.
