27711 Kirschvink (1988 VT4) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on November 4 1988 by C. S. Shoemaker and E. M. Shoemaker at Palomar. It is named after California Institute of Technology professor Joseph L. Kirschvink who was a student of E. M. Shoemaker as an undergraduate.
