2701 Cherson (1978 RT) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on September 1 1978 by Chernykh N. at Nauchnyj. It is named after Kherson a city in southern Ukraine the administrative center of the Kherson Oblast (not to be confused with Chersonesos Taurica).
