In enzymology a 23-dimethylmalate lyase (EC 4.1.3.32) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction(2R3S)-23-dimethylmalate propanoate + pyruvateHence this enzyme has one substrate (2R3S)-23-dimethylmalate and two products propanoate and pyruvate. This enzyme belongs to the family of lyases specifically the oxo-acid-lyases which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is (2R3S)-23-dimethylmalate pyruvate-lyase (propanoate-forming).
