The 2013–14 season is Reading Football Club’s first season back in the Championship following the club’s relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2012–13 season and is Nigel Adkins’ first full season in charge of the club. Reading were knocked out of the League Cup in the second round after a 6–0 defeat to Peterborough United their heaviest defeat since 1999. They will also compete in the FA Cup entering in the third round.
