FC Shakhtar Donetsk won the Ukrainian Premier League for the 5th time in the club’s history. Following the 2009 UEFA Cup victory Shakthar got to play in the UEFA Super Cup the first time a Ukrainian club had done so following the fall of the Soviet Union. That game ended in a 1-0 victory for Champions League winners Barcelona with Pedro scoring five minutes ahead of a possible penalty shootout.
