The 2006 Minnesota Vikings season was the team’s 46th regular season in the National Football League.The Vikings attempted to improve on their 9–7 record in 2005 which was the last under embattled head coach Mike Tice. The season ended with team posting a 6–10 record and Brad Childress as the new coach.The Vikings surrendered only 985 rushing yards in 2006 making Minnesota one of only two franchises in NFL history to allow fewer than 1000 rushing yards in a 16-game season.
