The 2006–07 season was Newport County’s third consecutive season in the Conference South and they had been ever-present since the introduction of the Conference North & South in 2004.Newport County missed out on a place in the promotion play-offs due to a last-day defeat to Cambridge City. The club also missed out on silverware following their second FAW Premier Cup Final defeat.
