The 2005–06 season was Arsenal’s 14th season in the Premier League and 86th consecutive season in the top division of English football. It was the final season in which home matches were played at the club’s Highbury stadium after 93 years; Arsenal intended to move to its new 60000 capacity Emirates Stadium in time for the following season. The club ended the league campaign in fourth position pipping local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the season.
