The 2000 San Diego Chargers season began with the team trying to improve on their 8–8 record in 1999. Instead the team lost its first eleven games before their only victory of the season (by one point which was obtained on a last-second field goal). It is the worst record of any Chargers team in history. The Chargers earned the 1st overall pick in the next season’s draft which they would later trade to the Atlanta Falcons for a package of draft picks and wide receiver Tim Dwight.
