In enzymology a 2-hydroxyisoflavanone synthase (EC 1.14.13.86) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactionapigenin + 2 NADPH + 2 H+ + O2 2-hydroxy-23-dihydrogenistein + 2 NADP+ + H2OThe 4 substrates of this enzyme are apigenin NADPH H+ and O2 whereas its 3 products are 2-hydroxy-23-dihydrogenistein NADP+ and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases specifically those acting on paired donors with O2 as oxidant and incorporation or reduction of oxygen.
