In enzymology a 2-deoxyglucosidase (EC 3.2.1.112) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reactiona 2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucoside + H2O 2-deoxy-D-glucose + an alcoholThus the two substrates of this enzyme are 2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucoside and H2O whereas its two products are 2-deoxy-D-glucose and alcohol. This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases specifically those glycosidases that hydrolyse O- and S-glycosyl compounds.
