The 1988–89 Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team represented the University of Michigan in intercollegiate college basketball during the 1988–89 season. The Head Coach was head coach Bill Frieder who was dismissed before the 1989 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament and replaced by assistant Steve Fisher. The team played its home games in the Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor Michigan and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. The team finished third in the Big Ten Conference.
