The 1987–88 season was Manchester United’s 85th season in the Football League and their 13th consecutive season in the top division of English football.The season was a relative success with the club finishing second in the league but they did not play in the UEFA Cup the following season due to the ban on English clubs in Europe after the Heysel Stadium disaster.
