The race was held over 76 laps of the 3.34-kilometre circuit for a total race distance of 254 kilometres.It was won by Carlos Reutemann driving a Williams FW07B. The win was Reutermann’s tenth Formula One victory and his first since the 1978 United States Grand Prix.
