The 1948 Australian Grand Prix was a motor race held on the runways and service roads of the Royal Australian Air Force base at Point Cook just outside of Melbourne in Victoria on Australia Day. The race was held over 42 laps of a 3.85 kilometre circuit for a race distance of 162 kilometres.It was the thirteenth Australian Grand Prix and the first time the race was not held on public roads. Prominent motorcycle racer Frank Pratt won the handicap race driving a BMW sports car.
