Mansfield Town Football Club are an English football club from the former mining town of Mansfield Nottinghamshire. Formed in 1897 they originally played in local leagues before becoming one of the larger non-league sides of the time. A Fourth Round FA Cup run in 1928-29 was not enough to get the Stags elected to the league however a change of tactics (applying to the southern section rather than the northern section) two years later worked.
