The 1906 U.S. Open was the 12th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 28–29 1906 at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest Illinois. Alex Smith won his first U.S. Open title by 7-strokes over his brother Willie the 1899 champion.Willie Anderson three-time defending champion and club pro at Onwentsia was the heavy favorite entering the tournament.
